Four out of Five Games (continued)

So after two losses and seven hours of games, I was a bit weary and a little punchy, but not in the violent way, just the little bit silly way. It was pretty hot and I had my share of leaning new rules about my enemies, so when I saw Danny and his chaos knights it was almost a relief. While I hadn't played against knights of the chaos nature, I knew they were less than the imperial knights over all, and I knew imperial knights.
Yup, that was his army.
His army was pretty small. It was three knights, and greater demon, and herald of Khorne, a bloodletter bomb and some nurglings. His drops were small and he went first, and took out my flyers. I positioned myself to attack second turn when my deep strikers will come in and shot the knights a bunch with the Shokk Attack Guns (SAG). They worked all right this turn. In his second turn, he dropped his bomb, and charged my regular shokk attack mek and my mob of 30 boys. Needless to say, I am not longer afraid of bloodletters. He did enough damage to me so drop my 30 mob to 14, to set up the Unstoppable Green Tide (UGT) on my turn. I did enough damage to him that he ailed his moral test and took the rest off the board! So, I want targeting his warlord knight, because the secondaries that I had set up were Kingslayer and Titan Slayer, so I needed to get damage on those dudes. I UGT the 30 mob and my Battle Wagon on that side of the board. I needed to kill the nurglings to get them out of the way to set up the charge for the battle wagon to his warlord knight. I shot them with the mob of 30 and killed most of them. Then shot them with all the battle wagon and it occupants and brought the last one model to one wound. I was too far away to charge because the nurgling was in the way. I was planning to do a Ramming Speed, but just charged the nurgling instead. I don't think he knew how bad it could have been, I had enough points to do a boarding action too. I would have taken his knight with all that. Stupid nurglings. After that, I scored some objectives and killed what I could, but took out no kinghts nor won the game. The warlord was down to one wound at the end, but just could not get it. I was tired at this point and was not paying attention to much and forgot the score.

As for lesson learned, there really wasn't any. I made some poor moves and it cost me points. Danny was an all right player, but was a bit aloof. He actually took a smoke break during the game, which was a bit disrespectful now that I think about it, but at the time seemed all right.

As for the next game I played Jade, and his silly all HQ army. He was trying out a new list and it wasn't going well for him, so we were the last table.
As you can see he had a beautiful army and he was a pleasure to play against. He had a bunch of stuff I never played against, mainly the Lord Discordant, aka, the chaos shrimp. This was a feel good game for me, even though I did not pick the right secondaries. I was able to kill a bunch of his stuff, but since I had more targets, he always got kill more on me.
The biggest thing in the early game was his chaos shrimp. It has exploding fours in combat, that add 3 more attack dice. Ouch. he took out the 10 ork mob, except the nob, and ran into the 30 mob. I was finally able to take it down, much to his chagrin. Then it was my turn to get some moving done. He took out the wazbomb and the battle wagon, so I figured I just needed to get in and much stuff up. I dropped the storm boys next to his now exposed characters, and moved the truck up to confront the hiding titan.
The hiding titan moved out and charged, but did not kill the truck, so I was able to safely deploy the boys and get a charge in. I declared first with the beg mek in mega armor, figuring the best save will do the job and it did. He took two wounds from over watch, but he got in and allowed the stormboys and nob mob in. A bunch of str 7 hits from the nobs, two other power claws and the regular hits from the stormboys, I was able to take out a titan. This was a personal unlocked achievement for me, as I have never taken out a knight. It was actually this guy that did it.
Orange bandanna stormboy now gets a name!
It left a hole like this.
I felt pretty good, but still lost something like 22 to 12. I again asked for feedback, and again the question came up of priority of shooting and timing. Was it beneficial to spend the time to take some shots even if they may not work out well. Also, I did not score any on two of my three primaries, but since I took out the titan, the blood thirster (it was a boring attrition and not worth writing about), the chaos shrimp, and the two smaller characters, I maxed out one secondary. I was happy with this loss.

Then I got a bye. It just worked out that there was an odd number of players and since I was last they gave me the bye, so other could play. This really dissapointed me as I wanted to play.If I stayed, I probably would have gotten the wooden spoon, but I bet that went to Jade (who was also in the running for best painted army). I went home to be with my boys and go swimming...

Overall it was a good experience, just wished I got that last game. I commended the T.O. and the other judges. Maybe I'll stick with RTT's for a bit. So now on to bigger and better things: Apocalypse!
