The road to the first tournament...

This is it. This is all I have left. 11 miniatures. Really, 10 nobs and a grot oiler. That is all I have left to paint for the tournament.
I feel pretty accomplished with this, but not as much as I thought I would. This is a bit discouraging, but not much. I thought I'd feel better, and I am not sure why. Maybe it is that I know I still have more to paint. Maybe it is that I have painted to a level that is six check marks on the ITC Hobby Track Painting Rubric, and no display board. I just saw that rubric last week and it is a bit discouraging to not be at least half the standard. Especially with the amount of work I've put in. I'd like to see something that says,"If there is more that 40 models, if there is more than 80 models, if there is more than 120 models..." I'd make the argument that having a bigger army fully painted is harder that a smaller one. Nids, IG, Orks should automatically get more points!
This is pretty good that this much painted, 125 out of 136 painted. I am happy. I just need to base them and it'll be better. I'll get some better photos when I am totally done.

Things to do and things that I am doing to prepare:

  • I have most of the army figured out in foam carrier
  • I just checked my list and found I had an overage of 18 points, or I'm paying for three boys I don't need to. That allowed me to get another power klaw and grot olier for a big mek.
  • Trying to get practice games in. Playing one tomorrow and hopefully a third before the tournament.
  • I am worried about knowing my army well enough
  • I am worried about timing out.
  • I am trying to have a positive out look on this. Everyone says that the most fun they've had playing 40k has been at tournaments. I would like to believe that, but I have not seen it yet, and it is a bit stressful getting ready for it.
  • I figured out how to upload my lists to BCP, so I'll avoid a yellow card right out.
Things to look forward to: batrep against chaos and finishing up the army. That is all for now...
