The Tournament is next weekend...
and I am not ready. As a matter of fact, I am not going. After careful planning and logistics, I found out that the weekend of the tournament is Father's day. I really have two goals in lif currently, one is be a better father, and be a better professional in my job. So, I am not attending the tournament. I hit up the organizers and since they are a game store, they gave me store credit. So, next time I am in Vegas I'll have a $85 credit to get some stuff. Cool.
As for hobby progress, I have done nothing. I have looked at things, planned to do things, but really nothing. I clogged Matrix's airbrush, then cleaned it and it should be working, but I just tested it on water. I cleaned and organized some stuff in the game garage. Nothing else. Since the start of this blog, this is the nadir of my hobbying. I blame a few things, busy with other things, playing games instead of hobbying, and work has been tiring me out.
Oh, wait I did cut up a plasti-card (a for sale sign from home depot) prime and paint it and attached it to the Necromunda wall plates. It actually worked out well.
Here are the painted pic's. Of course I'll have to get the wall tiles painted, but after that it'll look really cool.
I primed it with gray then used a multi color textured spray paint. First time I used that stuff, it worked out well. Made it super easy to make it look decent. I could see doing some washes to add to the depth and differentiation. Here's a close up on the texture.

There are different colors, red, brown, black, tan-ish. I sprayed a bit too much and it started to pool and flow across the plastic. The pressure of the textured paint it higher that regular paint.
Games played. The gaming group decided to play the new Elites Kill Team. We played 100 points but with the new rules. The plan was to play four game total, two at a time, but we were pretty much done too late for the second round of games. I played Jeep's Gray Knights against my orks. Since we have Clan Kultures now I played Evil Suns and made sure every weapon I had was assault, except for the Lootas' Deff guns, so I could run and shoot with no penalty. Which was good as the mission was to get my models to that far edge of the board. I got 3 off right away. Moving 8+ inches and doing 3 str 5 shots with the big shootas was really nice. I had 11 models and he had 4. Gray Knights are now doing two physic powers a turn, so that hurt. I ended up winning, but by less than one point.
This was a long time coming. Back when I played 3rd and 4th edition, I would never be able to make a list that was exactly 2,000 points and I would have like 1,997. The victory point system back then was based on the point value of the unit you killed. Since I would never get to 2k points, if we totally annihilated each other, I would win, because my opponent would only get 1,997. That never happened back then, of course. But this game of kill team we ended up tying because the game ended after 4 turns. If it continued, he would have won, easily, but it ended with the points tied. He had exactly 100 points, I had 97, so I won. This is the first game I won in a while. I felt I was losing all game long, and Jeep kept saying he felt like he was losing too. That might be a testament of the game design in that the pace or flow of the game can change in an instant. I never felt I had the game in the bag, even though I was winning a good chunk of the time.
I will be having some time off coming up and my plans are grand for painting, hobbying and games played, so stayed tuned more will be coming faster...
