Korean Food

So, I am totally hyped about this Kogi Taco Truck thing that is happening here in LA. The idea that you can get really good food from a truck is awesome. I also like the attitude of the folks that are putting it on. This has inspired me to make Kimchi, but I am looking for Korean chili powder. That is not at my Stater Bro.s or F&E, I might have to make a trip to Ranch 99. Waa hoooo! More about the Kogi Taco Truck here. There is a really funny "Random Video Post of the week" about tricking little Japanese kids into fighting a Zombie!

On the Beer front, the Kettles are in and have been used. The biggest problem with them is they are big. We only used one, but Roommate made a double batch called Gascan IPA (the first letter of each hop used in the recipe spelled out G.A.S.C.A.N.) Imagine about 11 gallons of beer in a single kettle. It was a beautiful site. More pictures to come. I made the infamous Polka Dot Porter. I tried to stay as true to the recipe as last time and I was quite pleased that I hit the Original Gravity (OG) exactly as last time. I noticed it fermenting in 12 hours from pitching of the yeast. It is going good now! About the problems with the Kettles, we had now quick way to cool the wort so we broke out the old custom built Wort Chiller that Hippy made me a long time ago. It worked but we had to move the wort outside. I was not a big fan of moving about 10 gallons of boiling wort out side through the kitchen, but it worked fine. The awesome wort chiller cooled the big batch of beer in about an hour, witch would have been about 5 to 10 times faster. Another problem was the 1/2 inch hose and spigot. It kept getting clogged. Pellet hops worked nice because if flowed right into the filter, but the whole hops (and vanilla bean for the PDP) got clogged in the line so we had to blow through the drain pipe (possible contamination) or just dump the kettle into the bucket. Either was was annoying and should not be the proper way the kettle should be used. There are filters and screens that can fit into the spigot, but we do not have those yet.

Not much on the game front. I am saving up notes on The Legend of Zelda for a giant post on the accomplishment of a life goal.
