The Old and the New
For the old we are talking about food, drink, and games. The food is what I am making now, Marinara Sauce. I have made this recipe for about 5 years and it is the old stand by for good simple sauce that is versatile and has good storage capabilities. This is the start:

I used whole peeled tomatos instead of crushed, because F&E only have crushed tomatoes with basil and I don't do basil with my marinara, oh no!
Also, Cat was acting really weird like jumping in the sink and trying to pet himself with a stalk of celery. so I took a picture of him. Yes, I put that tag on his neck, but he was asking for it.

The old Game is The Legend of Zelda, I have finally acquired and started to play. I have some pictures of it but I will share them a little later.
Also on the old side is the mead that Roommate made back in August. This is what it look like:

The pictures do not do it justice, it is a deep ruby red color and just about perfectly clear. It is a raspberry mead so that is where the color comes from, but I was really surprised at how beautiful it was. This was the starting gravity:
Measuring the gravity we were surprised.
As you can see it went all the way down to zero. Meaning that the means has the same specific gravity as water. Not to say that it is like water, there is just a lot of alcohol in it. Once the undissolved sugars are converted to alcohol it will slowly lower the gravity of the beer, because alcohol is less dense then water.
For the new we are talking about the First Annual L.A. Beer Fest. This was held at Sony Studios (very LA of them to do that) in Culver City. The event was not that great beer wise, there was nothing really special that was being poured, but the event was great due to the people that attended and the people that were meet. There was some new friends made in the beer community. I also got a chance to meet and hang out with a Stone distributor, a Naja's employee and Tomm Carrol, the writer of To Live and Drink in L.A., the Celebrator for L.A. It was cool. I expect it to be bigger next year with more serious breweries and better beer, I am looking forward to it.
Ok, my one hour time limit is up but vote for the first beer that Roommate will be brewing to the right.
