One step closer and beer
Ok, I have Won!!!!!
I now have Two NES consoles and one Game Cube Console coming to me. I am under my limit of $40, I paid $35.53. I plan on selling one of the consoles, and maybe the game cube. Next step is to purchase The Legend of Zelda. Once I get the consoles I will then go to Orvac to get the cords and start bidding on controllers. My Buddy in CO has a Game Cube, so I called him and asked about the cords and controllers, because I am unaware of what they look like.
Drinks:
The Newport Beach Winter Fest was a hit. There was about 12 to 15 breweries represented there. I showed up about 30 minutes before my Boss and staked our table. Once Boss got there I helped set up the kegs and the Jocky box. Bootleggers represented the Winter Ale and the Rustic Rye IPA. Others that were interesting was the Sam Adams line up. They had the Chocolate Bock, which was very much like a dessert beer. It tasted like there was chocolate syrup in the beer. The bottles look real nice with a silver embossed relief label and sells for about $15 for a 22oz. It is always out of my price range for a curious beer, but now that I know what it tastes like I will buy some to have when I have a good dessert to go with it. Sam Adams also had their Imperial line up. It was represented by their Imperial White, Imperial Stout and a Double Bock. To check out the descriptions go here. I was truly impressed. Other stands out were Oggi's hop Juice and Coronado Brewing's IPA. Both outstanding representatives of a West Coast Hop beer.
I would like to take the time to call out some criticism with this Fest. First, I want to call out the Bruery. This is a true Orange County beer fest and those are few and far between. OC beer is lacking, but we are getting better. The idea of supporting your local OC brewery is paramount in getting OC on the beer map. By not coming to the NBBC Winter Fest, the Bruery is showing their true colors of not caring about the bibere locus. Second, I loved the coordinator of the event. I talk to him at three critical times. First, was when the event was just starting. The restaurant was closed at 2:00 and cleared out of chairs and tables, except for the tables where the beer station was. I told him about my excitment of this event, and he mentioned that "he cannot wait till it is over." I asked him a second time what he thought of the event about an hour inand having a couple in him, he was much more congenial. He said "Now I am having fun, that most of the work is over." Finally, I asked him at about 10:30, after the official tasting was over, how it was going and his reply was "I cannot wait to get home." I can tell he worked hard to bring this together and it was worth it. This was the First Annual, I hope to see a second.
Next up is the 6th Annual Organic Wine & Beer Festival, which I have gone to the last two years and am going to tonight. This is only natural and organic beers and wine. Roommate and I usually forgo the wine and stick with the beer and are never unimpressed. Last years stand out was the wit from Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing. I talked with Emily, who I saw the year previous and at the GABF in '07 and she gave me the yeast number from white labs. I ended up culturing The Bruery's Orchard White instead, but the friendliness was not forgotten. I will report on this tomorrow with some fun pics.
Also, there will be pics of the Early Spring Mead the Roommate made.
That is all for now, what say you...
