Fish and nintendo

Food: This is the last week of the diet challenge Girlfriend and I are doing. I can eat bacon on Sunday and I will. The idea of the challenge was to change the way I thought about food at the grocery store and at restaurants. Girlfriend and I would seek out places that had a good vegetarian spread and /or fish. I found for restaurants that Taps, most oriental food, like sushi, Thai and even Mongolian BBQ places are very accommodating for vegge/fish only dishes. For the grocery side, the fresher the fish the better and I found this place . It is quite unassuming with little signage and a door on the side that look like you should not enter, but when you enter into a wonderland of fish smells, wet floors, and cold frigdes filled the with freshest fish and shell fish in the neighborhood. It is more expensive, but well worth the price if you are into fish. Drink: I went to the Newport Beach Brewing Company Winterfest this past Sunday. I talk more about this later. Games: I am...
Alas, I did not win the NES with Legend of Zelda. I will have to persevere and look again...

Food, games and some more food

So this was a fun weekend for food and games. First, yesterday, I finally made the Bean & 'Bello Burger from a recipe I found on Epicurious . I was really hungry and looking forward to making this. It ended up being rater bland. I still have some of the mix left, but I think I will add salt, and liquid smoke flavor to make it better. Also, some cheese will make it better. It looked real nice, but was on the bland side. I told my roommate about the thing with Legend of Zelda and he got an itch to play his old Atari . We broke it out and played for about an hour. Asteroids rocks! And I rock at it. This is my high score. This morning I went for a run and felt really energized, so I made this for breakfast. It was mainly left overs from the Bean & Bello burger. I did not have Fontina, so I used my next favorite cheese: Veletta. It was yummy , and if I have the ingredients on hand again I will make it more often. Today we are making more beer, Roommate is making a Belgium...

It has Started: Legend Of Zelda

The challenge has begun. One reason I started this blog is to chronicle a life goal for me. One of my life goals is to pass Legend of Zelda. This is the original one that came out in 1986. This game was originally bought for me in 1986 and life was good, albeit I never passed the game. There is a hole in my soul that can only be filled with passing this game. With this in mind I found an emulator for my desktop. I started playing it and found it fun. I also found that there is huge support and walkthroughs for the game. The maps, one originally came with the game, were a huge help, although I felt like it was cheating with the walkthroughs. Playing the game on the computer was good, but it was not real. I needed more. When I fought the dragon with the three heads using the arrow keys on my keyboard was not enough. I was limited. So this morning I have started to look for NES systems, The Legend of Zelda and the Nes Advantage (the joystick controller, I had one like it when I was...
First off I would like to say that the idea of a leather Bacon belt would be cool! The beers that I had last night were: Petrus Special winter Winterkoninck Barbar Winter Bok N'ice Chouffe Stille Nacht Affligem Noel BJ's 2009 Grand Cru Avec Les Bons Voeux Delium Noel Cuvee Meilleurs Voeux Gouden Carolus Noel Canaster Gulden Draak Vintage Ae Scaldis Noel and St. Bernardus Christmas Ale Out of the 15 beers listed above, I recorded 13 of the ABV and on average we are talking about 9.1%. I was felling pretty goos after the tasting! However, 14 out of 15 beers I had not tried before, the best one I liked was the first, Petrus Special Winter. It smelled liked Strawberry Taffy and had tastes of sour, tart and roasty. It would probably be better if it was aged longer. The roasty would lessen and the sour would come through more. The yeast and spices that were used in it was perfect with the smell. If I remember correctly it was copper-ish in color, so it was misleading from the We...
Ok, I just went to the Belgium Winter Warmer tasting tonight, and tomorrow I will post my thoughts! more to come.
